Community Feedback

Trans Tanz firmly believes that treatment and prevention of HIV and AIDS will not work unless the community in which you work helps manage the project and tells us what to do.

Without local knowledge we would not even know transport and access was a problem, or how we can go about helping with the problem.

Trans Tanz works with the local communities of Bagamoyo in the following ways:

Our partnership with UKUN - the home based carers and peer educators we work with to reach the sick are all drawn from the communities we work in. These community members are the unseen faces of the epidemic who work tirelessly, and mostly for free across sub-Saharan Africa to provide care, treatment and support for their friends, family and neighboursParticipation in Village Multi-Sectoral AIDS Council (VMAC) Meetings Stakeholder / Patient feedback meetingsSuggestion box on the busLocal driver

BUT we want to do more! Over 2009 Trans Tanz wants to work towards making the project fully community-led. We plan to do this by introducing new formal feedback structures between patients and the UK trustees; and making community reps in Tanzania trustees of the charity
