First Bus Service Launches!

Wednesday 28th of November will go down as the most important day in Trans Tanz's brief life so far. Just 363 days into our existence we have launched our first bus service in Bagamoyo. Massive thanks and appreciation to Duncan, the trustees and all of the many hundreds of fundraisers who've helped us so far. It's an incredible achievement - champagne all round.

Carly Speaks at Stop Aids Manchester's Annual Fundraiser

Stop Aids Manchester are one of Trans Tanz's biggest supporters and we are hugely grateful for all their help. So, when they asked whether we would like to speak at their huge annual World Aids Day fundraising event, naturally we were delighted to help out. Trans Tanz trustee Carly Woodhead speaks at 12.50pm in front of the Samuel Alexandar building, next to the Student Union - and is followed by a massive balloon release!

Trans Tanz Up-and-Running!!

Little more than one year after the first trustees meeting, Trans Tanz has now officially launched! Duncan is our first fully paid employee and our first bus in on it's way to Tanzania as we speak. We expect the first bus run to take place before the end of the month. An enormous thank you to everyone who's donated money, fund-raised or attended any of our parties. We salute you.

Monsoon Weather For the Zanzibar Beach Party!

London got a taste of the tropics as torrential rain greeted guests at the Trans Tanz Summer Event 'The Zanzibar Beach Party'. Held in Belsize Park's finest garden pub 'The Stag', the party saw 150 revellers get wet and wild to the sounds of DJs Casher, The Van Den Plas, Captain Magic and Anna Wrecks plus the very great Pete Walter and his participatory audience.

As the rain came down and barbecued delicacies were gobbled down, somewhere in the middle Trans Tanz raised over £1700. Especially big thanks to Dan Archer for donating a recent work of art and to Tony Robinson for securing our top raffle prize of two tickets to see Gwen Stefani at Wembley Arena. Hannah Lloyd Runs the Bupa 10k

Trustee Hannah Lloyd ran the BUPA Manchester 10km on Sunday for Trans Tanz. She completed the race in 1hr 3mins (with a little bit of help from Queens of the Stone Age, and raised 600 quid in the process! Hannah - we salute you!

The Kinabalu Challenge

Friends of Trans Tanz, The Borneo 4 (Nick Stroud, Gemma Stockley, Ed Winfield and Gerard Jackson) have completed the Kinabalu Challenge!

Helicoptered into the jungle, they built their own shelter, trekked through rainforest, paddled down tropical rivers, rode the rapids on a team-built raft and climbed 4,100 metres up Mnt Kinabalu - all in aid of Trans Tanz!

The 10 day event allows teams of 4 to compete in a series of challenges: mountain biking, running, white water rafting, bamboo rafting, kayaking and "racing" up Mt Kinabalu. Competing in 35 degree temperatures and 95% humidity, it is a test of fitness, team work and common sense. Even though they're safely home, you can still donate to the cause. NB. all money donated goes to TransTanz; participation for the event has been funded from our own pockets.
